| During the reign of king Tomislav (10th century) the head of Croatian clergy was bishop Gregorius of Nin, a well known promoter of liturgy in Croatian language and of usage of national script – Glagolitsa. Great Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović dedicated three sculptures to him, from which this one in Split is the most monumental. The other two can be seen in Varaždin and Nin. |
