The most famous Split beaches
As well as in other cities, Split entertainment life is divided into day life and night life. As this text is for guests who visit our city in summer months, the biggest part of day entertainment life description will be dedicated to Split beaches. And here is the short description of the most famous ones.
The beach Bene is situated on the north part of Park Forest Marjan. With a lot of shade and shallow water with sandy bottom it is suitable both for kids and adults. Next to the beach there is a complex of sports grounds (tennis, badminton, five-a-side football) and a restaurant which has a rich offer of fish and other specialties. The closest parking lot is 15-20 minutes’ walk away, but the sense of peace and relaxation is therefore even bigger.
On the south side of Marjan there are four beaches in a row with similar character (Ježinac, Obojena, Kaštelet and Kašjuni). These beaches are gravel and their greatest flaw is the absence of shade. However, a great number of bathers prove that clean sea and good company can be enough for pleasant sunbathing and swimming.
The most popular Split beach is, definitely, Bačvice. Long, sandy shallow water is especially suitable for children, but adults can also have fun with “picigin”, a sport which was created on Bačvice and where the world championship is held. Shade is scarce so it is recommendable to rent a deck chair and a parasol. On the beach you can have a coffee, a cold drink, eat an ice-cream or a hot dog. As this is the most popular Split beach the problem can be crowds at the weekend.
The newest Split beach is Žnjan which is partly made of concrete but mostly is gravel. The impression is that it lacks attractions, but bigger problem is the lack of shade. Next to the beach there are several catering objects so bathers can freshen up with a cold drink of cool under a parasol.
Split night life mostly involves coffee bars, which are numerous, and several disco clubs. They are mostly situated on the coast and differ only for the kind of music they play. To number or select some of them before the beginning of high season is very difficult since they redecorate during the winter and often change entertainment and music character.
The cheapest, and in my opinion the most attractive kind of night entertainment takes place on the beaches. Good company of friends, drinks and a guitar, and when the atmosphere becomes too hot in few steps you`re in the sea. Couples will chose quieter parts of the beach and enjoy the romantic reflection of the moonlight on the sea surface and the far away lights of numerous boats at sea.
Entertainment possibilities in Split are numerous, but as in every other place in the world quality is determined by the company you are in. |
